We love Italy – and Italian cuisine. And our basil gnocchi tastes just like in a restaurant. Pasta is so easy to make.

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg of floury potatoes
  • 1 handful of basil leaves
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt
  • freshly grated nutmeg
  • 100 g flour (plus flour for the work surface)
  • butter
  • 5 tablespoons of pine nuts
  • fine sea salt
  • grated cheese

Preparation time:

  • 35 minutes (plus 10 minutes cooking time)

And this is how it is done:

  1. Cook the unpeeled potatoes in a large saucepan of salted water. Wash the basil leaves, chop them coarsely and grind them with the eggs with an immersion blender.
  2. Peel the boiled potatoes and mash through a potato masher in a large bowl. Make a well in the center and add the egg and basil mixture. Pour the salt, nutmeg and flour into the bowl and quickly knead everything into a smooth dough. If it is still sticky, gradually add more flour.

  3. Dust the work surface and hands with flour. Divide the dough into 4 portions and form evenly into a roll about 1.5 cm thick. Divide the roll with a knife or spatula into pieces about 2 cm wide. Using a fork, cut the gnocchi.

  4. Place the gnocchi in batches in plenty of boiling salted water and immediately reduce the heat. Let the gnocchi soak until they float to the surface. Remove the gnocchi with the slotted spoon and place on a clean towel.
  5. Heat the butter in a pan, add the pine nuts and toss the gnocchi in it before serving. It’s done! Now sit down at a nicely set table and enjoy the Italian evening.

Pleasure and Italy: For millions of travelers it belongs together. But what about when you’re back home? Not everyone can or wants to afford to eat out at their favorite Italian restaurant every day. So we simply spoil ourselves and our loved ones, for example with basil gnocchi with pine butter. The preparation is really easy.

The next Italian night continues with a creamy radicchio risotto with fried bacon. It’s just as colorful as the homemade basil gnocchi. And what do we like to eat in Italy? Sure: pizza! And preferably an ultra-creamy gorgonzola mozzarella pizza that makes every cheese lover happy. Next, we reward ourselves with a delicious slimming paste that is ready in no time.

Oh, once you’ve eaten in Italy, you’ll never want to go anywhere else. Because there is, for example, an incredible selection of fresh pasta and dried pasta. But which do you take with which sauce? We will be happy to tell you which pasta goes with which sauce. Try a classic Bolognese with tagliatelle. You’d be surprised at how well the two get along.

Italy also likes to eat pasta dishes. Vegetable leftovers can be deliciously cooked under the crispy cheese crust. This is luxurious use of leftovers! In our picture gallery we have great suggestions for your next casserole.

With so many choices, could you even make a decision? Even we find it difficult sometimes. Italian cuisine has more to offer than just pizza, pasta and risotto. Discover the enormous variety of the beloved Mediterranean cuisine in our video:
