During the last few days, temperatures in Germany have repeatedly climbed above 30 degrees – the perfect time to start the day with a refreshing Açai Bowl for breakfast.

But what exactly is açai? And what makes them so special? The açai berry, the fruit of the cabbage palm, comes from South America and is best known for its health-promoting properties: the high proportion of antioxidants, fiber, vitamins C and B3 and calcium make it a true superfood. With a rather earthy taste, it’s best mashed with frozen bananas to form an ice cream and then topped with nuts and fruit as the mood takes you.

Make your own Açai Bowl: This is how the healthy (and refreshing!) recipe succeeds
Ingredients (for one bowl):
- 70g açai puree (frozen)
- 50 g banana (frozen)
- 60 g wild blueberries (frozen)
- 50 g mango (frozen)
- 30 grams of dates
- Juice of half a lemon
- 120 ml coconut milk
- Optional: 1 teaspoon maca powder
preparation
- Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until desired consistency is achieved.
- Then pour the puree into a bowl and garnish the cream with your favorite topping, such as: chopped Épique slices, nut butter, coconut chips, fresh fruit or granola.
